Card Activation

According to the Telecommunications (Registration of SIM Cards) Regulation, starting from 1 Mar 2022, local pre-paid SIM card users (including voice, data and/or short message services (SMS) SIM cards) must complete real-name registration with their telecommunications service provider in order to activate or continue the use of SIM card service. Mobile number will be assigned once real-name registration is completed.


After successful activation, stored value and expiry date will be sent to you through SMS. 1-Year Local Data Pack will be effective and service charge of $80 will be deducted automatically.


* If mobile no. is not shown on your SIM card, please follow the methods below to obtain your mobile no.:

  1. Dial USSD code *111*359#SEND; or　
  2. Make the first call in Hong Kong

Once you have completed one of the above steps, you will receive an automated SMS displaying your assigned mobile number.

Roaming Data

Tips:

  • If you are unable to access roaming data service after subscribed the roaming data pack, please check your phone setting by following steps:
    - Ensure “Mobile Data” & “Data Roaming” setting on your phone is turned on
    - Restart your phone

Notes:

  • Remaining day pass updates in around 15-20 mins upon successful purchase.
  • 'A day' is defined as 00:00 to 23:59 Hong Kong time. A partial day will be charged as a full day.
  • The pass is valid for 12 months starting from the day of purchase and must be used before the specified expiry date.
  • Daily with first 500MB at 4G speed, thereafter speed capped at 128Kbps
  • Once the data usage reaches the relevant fair usage limit, the data service will continue at a speed up to 128kbps until the data pack expires.
  • When roaming data is consumed, the service plan will be activated automatically.
  • The pass will be deducted only if roaming data is consumed, consecutive use of Day Passes not required. If you do not need to use the purchased day pass while roaming, please turn off roaming data on your phone before leaving Hong Kong.
  • Roaming data is only applicable to designated operators.(China- China Mobile /China Unicom, Japan-KDDI, Indonesia-Excelcomindo, Taiwan-ChungHwa Telecom,Bangladesh-Robi, South Korea-KT,Cambodia-Smart,Thailand-DTAC/TrueMove/AWN, Malaysia-DiGi/Celcom, Singapore–M1 Limited, Macau-CTM) *Designated operators may change from time to time
  • Actual data transmission speed may vary due to many factors, including but not limited to, network traffic conditions, handset models, handset settings (both hardware and software), uploaded/downloaded content and other external factors.
  • If you are in a destination that only supports VoLTE Roaming Service (such as Japan where there’s no 2G/3G network coverage), you will need to enable VoLTE & use a VoLTE capable device to use the Roaming Service.

Call management services require a separate application (please refer to the instruction of “Call Management Service” for details). Once you subscribe to this data pack, the call management service pack you are using will be terminated and the service fee will not be refunded.

    • - The Mobile data APN setting of your phone is set to “smartone”
    • - Restart your phone

Notes:

  • 1-Year Data Pack is valid for 365 days from the date of subscription
  • A notification SMS will be sent to you when the data allowance is used up. You can subscribe to a new data pack, and the unused local voice minutes of existing data pack (if any) will be forfeited
  • Reset on validity of the SIM after recharge will not reset the validity of any subscribed data pack
  • The service will be suspended once the SIM card expires, even if the subscribed data pack is still valid.
  • Using the remaining balance in your account to apply for a new data pack will not extend the validity of the SIM. To apply for a new data pack and extend the validity of the SIM at the same time, you need to subscribe to the new data pack instantly with an e-wallet.
  • All unused data allowance and local voice minutes (if any) will be forfeited upon expiry of data pack validity period.
  • Data service is applicable for use in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau only. Actual data transmission and connection speed may vary due to the Internet traffic conditions, local conditions, hardware, software and other factors

VoLTE

VoLTE (Voice over LTE) is a technology that utilizes data to transmit voice calls. It requires both network and handset support. Starting from March 20, 2024, ValueGB will fully support VoLTE to provide our customers with a smoother service experience*.


How to enable VoLTE:
1.Use a phone that supports VoLTE.
2.For iPhone: Go to “Settings” > “Mobile Data” > “Mobile Data Options” > “Voice & Data”, and select “LTE", "Enable VoLTE.”
For Android: Navigate to Settings > “Connections” > “Mobile Networks”, and enable “VoLTE calls SIM 1.”

*If you are using an iPhone with iOS 14 or later versions or a phone with Android 12 or later versions, VoLTE is already enabled by default, and no action is required.
